Spetses almond sweet delight.

One of the most famous local products are the well known Spetses almond sweets called “Amigdalota”. These small, pear shaped almond sweets is the a local speciality and one of the main reasons for the huge growth of the commercial fleet of Spetses at the 18th century

A delicacy you should definitely try when you visit Spetses.

Amigdalota are cooked with almonds, sugar and rosewater but without the use of butter or eggs so they don’t spoil and can be stored for a long time. This was ideal for trade by the expanding crew of commercial vessels that crossed the Mediterranean for months. And also a smart choice as a gift for your beloved.

Today in Spetses will find many pastry shops that make such sweets and you should definitely try them when you visit Spetses.  Our personal preference is the Politis store in Ntapia but wherever you try them while in Spetses you will find the taste delicious and different from anywhere else in the world!
